"When the Wild Wild East Meets the Wild Wild West"
Between the death of Joshua and the coronation of King Saul - a period of several centuries - there was no centralized authority in the land of Israel. The tribes of Israel sometimes fought together and sometimes against one another. The Israelites, whose enemies would periodically overcome them, were saved only by the charismatic individuals known collectively as the Judges. In many ways, this period of biblical history was not unlike the American Wild West of the 19th century... a time when law and order depended upon a handful of gunslingers, some of whom were only marginally better than the outlaws they brought to justice. Saddle up for a six-part series on some of the best of the worst enforcers from the Jordan River to the Rio Grande and Back. Spurs and chaps are optional!
