Strengthening our Connection to Israel
The role of a community Shaliach is to serve as a bridge between Israel and Jewish communities around the world. In Jacksonville, Bar Gershon fulfills this role, actively working to strengthen the community’s connection to Israel.
The community Shlicha engages with all segments of the Jewish community, from preschoolers and school-aged children to teenagers, young adults, adults, and seniors. This work includes giving lectures, leading workshops, visiting local synagogues and Chabad centers, maintaining a monthly blog and social media presence, organizing major community events and ceremonies attended by hundreds, and much more.

Highlights of our Community Shlicha’s work
Israel’s National Days
Over 400 people attended our Yom HaZikaron and Yom HaAtzmaut events, demonstrating profound love and support for Israel. Two IDF soldiers from Israel shared their personal stories about their experience during October 7th and Operation Iron Swords. More than a hundred people attended the memorial ceremony for October 7th to pay their respects to the victims of that day.
Education
Our Shlicha, Bar Gershon, Works with Jewish schools in the community, reaching more than 200 students from preschool through high school. Together, they explore how holidays are celebrated in Israel and learn about Israeli culture and daily life through engaging and meaningful lessons.
Building Connections
Throughout the year, our Shlicha organizes and participates in a variety of community events, including collaborations with our partnership region, activities in synagogues, and Chabad centers. She also introduces Israel’s culture and heritage to diverse audiences, including non-Jewish communities, through the Israeli tent at the “World of Nations” festival.
