Position Description

 

Background

 

The Jewish Federation and Foundation of Northeast Florida (“JFFNEF”) is a fundraising organization supporting the local and global Jewish. The programs and services provided touch the lives of Jewish and non-Jewish people of all ages.  Over 15,000 Jews live in the areas of Nassau, Duval, and St. John’s Counties.  The Jewish Community is home to the Jewish Community Alliance, Jewish Family and Community Service, the Martin J Gottleib Day School, and the Torah Academy of Jacksonville.  In addition, there are six shuls in the area, representing all denominations and Chabad.

 

The community of Jacksonville has a rich history of arts and cultural activities with museums, galleries and performing arts venues.  From NFL Football to college football, minor league baseball, professional surfing, and more, there are many ways to enjoy sports in the community.  The area is well known for its world class beaches, abundant parks and extensive waterways. Jacksonville proudly boasts the largest urban park system in the country. Jacksonville is also home to several top medical systems including the Mayo Clinic and MD Anderson Cancer Center. Residents enjoy a high quality of life!

 

The leadership of the JFFNEF seeks a dynamic executive with a proven record of accomplishment in fundraising to lead the organization as it moves to realize its vision for the future.  

 

Summary

 

The Executive Director (ED) is responsible for the overall leadership and management of the Federation and Foundation, implementation of all planning efforts, fiscal management, staff management, fund development, board development, and building community partnerships. With accountability to the Board of Directors, the successful candidate must be an action-oriented relationship builder and a collaborative and energetic leader. A proven record of accomplishment of fund development and community engagement is highly desired.

 

Qualifications:

 

Strong and diverse experience in all aspects of fund development including annual campaigns, grants, individual gift solicitation, stewardship, and endowment development.

 

Demonstrated ability to create and maintain partnerships between individuals, governmental and non-governmental organizations, corporations, and foundations, both locally and nationally.

 

Must have knowledge and familiarity with Jewish customs, traditions, and values.

 

Knowledge of the organized Jewish community, locally, nationally, and overseas.

 

Ability to build trust and be a diplomatic honest broker in solving community issues.

 

Seven years of progressively responsible experience managing within a complex organization. Prior Federation or Jewish Community Foundation experience is desired but not mandatory.

 

Successful track-record of strong leadership and management of organizations.

 

Outstanding analytical, financial, and written/verbal communication skills.

 

Energetic, forward-thinking, and creative with high ethical standards and an appropriate professional image.

 

Decisive visionary with a "big picture" perspective, detail oriented and well versed in organizational systems.

 

Flexibility in dealing with the evolving needs of the community, staff, and lay leadership.

 

BA degree is required, graduate degree preferred.
